Announcing CCNW Speech
CCNW is planning to conduct its inaugural Speech season during the Fall 2010 semester.
CCNW Speech is intended to be a simple, low key speech program that will complement the CCNW Debate program for families that are interested in the benefits provided by Speech participation.
CCNW Speech will be limited to the Fall semester so that families can focus on Speech during the Speech Season and on Debate during the Debate Season.
The age requirement for CCNW Speech is the same as that for CCNW Debate. For the 2010-2011 school year, all CCNW participants must be at least 14 years old before January 1, 2011, and may not have turned 19 years old before that date.
For more information on the CCNW Speech program, the tentative rules for the Speech events and the questions for CCNW Apologetics can be found using the links below.
CCNW does not currently have formal, organized Speech clubs. The intent is that families interested in participating in CCNW Speech either work informally at the individual family level, or with other interested families to develop, practice, and critique each other's speech efforts. The information available at the links below provide a starting point for Speech preparation. Additional information and references will be posted as it becomes available.
The CCNW Speech season will conclude with a 1-day Speech Tournament. The tournament will be held sometime between late October and early December. The location will be determined and announced in September.
The 2010 CCNW Speech Tournament will offer opportunities in Apologetics, Impromptu, Persuasive, Expository, and Humorous Interpretation. CCNW Speech events will alternate on an even/odd year rotation. The events for odd numbered years are Apologetics, Impromptu, Original Oratory, Dramatic Intrepretation and Duo Interpretation.
